You know you DON'T remove the silicone from BETWEEN the glass right? It's not necessary to get a good seal. Just make sure all the glass surfaces are cleaned. I use distilled white vinegar. Works wonders for cleaning any residue and makes any silicone film evident.

Check your seals between the glass when you strip it. I've resealed two tanks in the last couple weeks and both had separation between the glass. Just see if it has any flex or opens before you put the corner beads in.

Yes Pete - I did not plan to cut the class appart. Thanks for the viniger tip. I will use that after I do some hand buffing tot he front glass!

Ken - after cutting out the seals I dont think any of the pannels are Loose or seperated. They are not water tight for sure but they seem solid!

Thanks Guys

My fingers are too skinny! I like the uniformity of using a tool! It is important to make sure you dont get any air gapps in there. I hate sealing tanks!!!!!!!!!!!

Sealing it isn't all that bad, stripping it and getting out all the silicon is a pain in the a$$. I just finished stripping out my 110 for the second time, not fun.

got it stripped today while I was doing a water change on the 180. I still got a little clean up t do But Its close to ready. The trick with stripping (IMO) is to change the blade out often! Use a holder for the blade and do it in some good light!!! I think I am gona polish the inside of the front glass and try to clean the corners a little more before I seal it back up.

i've seen people use tape to get straight edges on the seal, smooth it with the finger and the pull the tape off, i had a cheap tool hat's yellow and can be used as a cap for the silicone as well, but if angled wrong it can scrape too much off

I like doing the removal part, but hate doing the actual reseal. Ken and I make a good team on resealing. We can remove all the old, clean it up, and Ken reseals them quick.
